The Day the Wind Got Loud

The day started calm in the valley.

Zinnia was exploring. Serapha was helping the smaller animals gather sticks. Unequivocal watched the sky, steady and quiet.

Then the wind changed.

It began to blow harder and harder. Leaves flew through the air. Branches shook.

Soon, the valley filled with noise.

Some Fugglies started running in circles. Others froze where they stood.

“No!” one shouted.“What do we do?” another cried.

Zinnia felt her stomach twist.

“I’m nervous,” she said.

Serapha looked around at the frightened animals.

“We need to help,” she said.

But everything felt loud and fast.

That’s when Unequivocal stepped forward.

She did not yell. She did not rush.

She stood tall and calm.

“Everyone,” she said,“look at me.”

Her voice was steady.

And steady voices help people feel safe.

“First,” she said,“we stop.”

Slowly, the running stopped.

“Next,” she said,“we breathe.”

Everyone took one slow breath in…and one slow breath out.

The noise in their bodies began to settle.

Then Unequivocal pointed to a strong, wide tree nearby.

“Now,” she said,“we take one steady step together.”

Serapha led the way. Zinnia stayed close. The Fugglies followed.

Step by step, they moved to safety.

The wind still blew for a while.

But the panic was gone.

Soon, the storm passed.

The valley grew quiet again.

Zinnia looked up at Unequivocal.

“You didn’t stop the wind,” she said.

Unequivocal smiled gently.

“No,” she said. “But we stayed steady.”

Serapha nodded.

“And when we stay steady,” she said,“others can stay steady too.”

Unequivocal looked at the group and spoke the lesson they would remember.

“We can’t always stop the storm —but we can steady ourselves.”

And from that day on, whenever things felt loud or scary, the animals remembered:

Calm is contagious.
