The Bridge that Wouldn't Hold

The sun was just beginning to peek over the hills when Zinnia, Serapha, and Unequivocal reached the edge of a small stream.
Across the water was a wide, grassy field — the perfect place to play, explore, and learn new things.
But there was one problem.
A wooden bridge stretched across the stream…and it didn’t look very steady.
Zinnia stepped onto the first board.
WOBBLE.
The bridge shook from side to side.
She quickly stepped back.
Serapha leaned forward and looked carefully at the boards. Some were loose. Some were crooked. One plank had a big crack running right through the middle.
Behind them, a group of Fugglies gathered.
One Fugglie bounced impatiently.“Let’s just run across fast!” he said.
Another shook his head.“No way. It’s too scary. Let’s give up and go home.”
Zinnia frowned. She didn’t want to rush. But she didn’t want to quit either.
She looked at Unequivocal.

Unequivocal stood tall and calm, her wings folded neatly at her sides. She didn’t panic. She didn’t hurry.
She simply said,
“Let’s figure out what the bridge needs.”
Serapha nodded. She carefully stepped closer and checked each board.
“This one is loose,” she said.“This one isn’t lined up.” “And this one needs to be replaced.”
The Fugglies watched quietly.
Zinnia picked up a hammer from the tool bag.
“What if we fix it together?” she asked.
Unequivocal smiled.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
First, they gathered strong boards.
Then they lined them up carefully.
Serapha measured the space between each plank.
Zinnia held the boards steady.
Unequivocal checked the work and made sure every piece was secure.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tighten. Check. Test.
They didn’t rush. They didn’t skip steps. They worked one board at a time.
Some Fugglies started to help.
One carried nails. Another held a board in place.A third tested the bridge by stepping gently on each plank.
Little by little, the bridge grew stronger.
Finally, Unequivocal stepped onto the first board.
No wobble.
She took another step.
Still steady.
Serapha followed.
Then Zinnia.
The bridge held firm beneath their feet.
The Fugglies cheered.
One by one, everyone crossed safely to the other side.
Zinnia looked back at the bridge and grinned.
“We did it!”
Unequivocal nodded proudly.
“Yes, we did.”
She looked at the group and said in her calm, steady voice:
“Fast can fail. Steady holds.”
Serapha added,
“Strong things aren’t built all at once.”
Zinnia finished with a smile,
“They’re built step by step.”
And from that day on, whenever the trio faced something difficult, they remembered the bridge —and the lesson it taught them.
Do it right. Do it together. One steady step at a time.
